Kia walked away with no less than four awards from the inaugural Automotive Brand Contest organized by the German Design Council. The most important was that of “Best of Best” for overall brand design, acknowledging Kia’s new styling language.

The other three awards were won in the Exterior category by the latest Sportage, the Optima sedan and the new Rio.

Peter Schreyer, Kia’s chief designer commented:

“We are all exceedingly proud that Kia Motors has done so well in this new competition, which is very important within the automotive industry. By changing our basic design focus, we have given our brand a face, a distinctive identity.”

The German Design Council was founded in 1953 as an initiative of the German Federal Parliament. The winners of the first Automotive Brand Contest will receive their awards on the first press day of the Frankfurt Motor Show on September 13.
